What to Wear, Where to Stay
Even though seasons are reversed in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, the southern half of Australia is the only one that actually experiences four seasons. The interior of Australia is semi-desert, with only a little rain. Summer is extremely hot, and there are freezing temperatures on some winter nights. The "in-between" seasons would be the best times to visit this central area - between April and June, or between October and November. From December to March is summer in Australia, and that is the best time to visit the southern area of the continent. Normally, the beaches are more crowded and costs rise during the Christmas holiday season there. Places to stay in Australia would of course depend upon what type of accommodations one desired as far as luxury or budget and where one would want to visit. Some sample hotels from several areas of Australia are as follows: In Sydney, some hotels are the Avillion (four-star), Park Hyatt (five-star), and Barclay (three-star). In Brisbane, the Carlton Crest is a four-star hotel, Quay West is five-star, and Ibis is three-star. Some places to stay in Darwin might be the Saville Park Suites, Parap Village Motel, and the Asti Motel. In Melbourne, there's the Kingsgate, Bayside Motel, and Oakford on Collins. The Kangaroo Island Wilderness Resort in South Australia is noteworthy for its location near Flinders Chase National Park. Either at the resort or close by, one can see all kinds of animals, such as Wallabies, Seals, Sea Lions, Echidnas, Goannas, Possums, Platypus, and rare birds. Also of interest to the area are major attractions for tourists, such as Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, Seal Bay, and Kelly Hill Caves. Australian cuisine is a focus of the resort. Its honey even comes from the Ligurian bee. Great Hotels of the World specializes in luxury hotels and also five-star resorts. |
